What is Geburah?
Geburah — Strength — is the Sephirah of necessary severity. Where Chesed expands, Geburah cuts away. It is the principle of limit, judgment, and the kind of strength that arrives as the willingness to say no. Geburah sits below Binah on the Pillar of Severity, and its energy is often misunderstood as cruelty when it is, in fact, the precision required for any structure to hold. Without Geburah, Chesed becomes formless overflow.
